Jerome Powell & the Federal Reserve just issued a major warning to the US Economy and Housing Market. Suggesting that financial conditions are tightening "more than the traditional metrics suggest". That's Powell implying that a bank credit crisis could be overtaking the US Economy in 2023. Which, combined with Fed Interest Rates Hikes, could mean that the layoffs are about to get much worse. Companies like Meta, Amazon, and Indeed are the most recent ones to announce big layoffs. The layoffs by Indeed are especially concerning. Because they have lots of data on the US Job Market. And they are seeing a big slowdown in new job listings. Which means the Recession in 2023 could accelerate. But these white collar layoffs haven't spread yet to the rest of the economy. Causing some to think that we'll have a "Soft Landing". Or will avoid a Recession entirely. Nearly 50% of the subscribers on my YouTube Channel think that at most we will experience a normal recession. However, people need to be careful to account for the lag that takes place between layoff announcements and economic contagion. As more white-collar workers lose their jobs, consumer spending will go down. And as consumer spending will go down, the layoffs will spread. Which will make the Housing Crash worse. Especially in states like California where the home sales have already gone down 30-40% YoY. They will likely keep declining in metros like San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco because the huge economic exposure to the layoffs. - REVENTURE APP: 🤍reventure.app INSTAGRAM: 🤍 TWITTER: 🤍 DISCLAIMER: This video content is intended only for informational, educational, and entertainment purposes. Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns has claimed the Government is defined by “one long litany of broken promises and abject failure on housing.”
National home prices just experienced their first decline since 2012. That’s right; it’s been eleven years since we’ve seen price cuts at this level. As buyers get more aggressive and the Fed pushes mortgage rates up even higher, sellers are starting to feel squeezed. Not only that, the housing market is seeing another HUGE reversal as sale-to-list averages continue to drop below 100%. What does this mean for buyers and sellers, and how can investors take advantage? Dave is back with another data drop to get you a better deal on your next real estate investment. This time, he’ll review the startling stats released from Redfin showing that the housing market correction is in full form. Sellers are getting desperate as homes sit longer on the market, but with inventory shrinking, how long could the housing market stalemate last? And are sellers fatigued enough to give significant discounts on their properties? Stick around! Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre compared Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to a “shady contractor” as he criticized Trudeau over his government’s efforts to improve housing affordability for Canadians. “You listen to him rattle off the billions he’s spent to achieve that failure, it kind of reminds you of that shady contractor who promises you a new home but the cost keeps going up and up and up – but the house never actually gets built,” he said. Trudeau responded by contending that housing affordability in Canada would be worse with a Conservative government that “continued to cross its arms and cut services to Canadians for the past eight years.” Pierre countered that when he was housing minister, prices were lower than they are today. “You don’t have to imagine, it’s called history,” he quipped. Last week, Housing Minister Ahmed Hussen introduced a $4 billion Housing Accelerator Fund aimed at helping cities, towns and Indigenous communities unlock new housing supply by speeding up development and approvals. [S03 E05] The Problems with Supply and Demand in the Housing Market Stay connected with the latest news from d🤍w. Join our mailing list today: 🤍 "Housing is a basic human need and the market tends to ignore social needs, as it prioritizes individual profit.” - Prof. Robles-Durán There is a widespread belief that the central culprit of the housing crisis in most metropolitan regions around the world today is the lack of supply. This notion has been well spread by mainstream media outlets and urban professionals, such as urban planners, architects, housing developers, and real-estate agencies. For those disseminating this idea, ending the housing crisis is straightforward: more and more housing needs to be built. In this episode of Cities After…, Prof. Robles-Durán contests this belief, explaining that this solution is built on the false notion of a stable market free of externalities and inherent contradictions. Addressing the housing crisis solely through supply and demand dogmas makes little sense in the era of real-estate financialization and mega-landlords. There is a much deeper systemic issue brewing than simply an unequal relationship between supply and demand. Cities After... is a bi-weekly podcast about the future of cities; grounded in our daily urban struggles, it is part dystopian and part utopian. The intention is to entice civic imagination into action, because a more just and sustainable urban future is possible. Miguel Robles-Durán is an urbanist with expertise in the design and analysis of complex urban systems and urban political-ecology. Buying a house is a big deal because it takes time, money and effort. The good news is, if you’re looking to buy in Charlotte, the market is considered “balanced,” according to an analysis from Realtor.com. The real estate website categorizes a “balanced market” as one in which "the supply and demand of homes are about the same.” Typically, when mortgage rates increase like they have since the fall of 2022, home prices go down to make up the difference and offset the cost, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in this current real estate climate. According to Realtor.com, the median home listing price in Charlotte in February 2023 was $399,000 which is 6.4% higher than the median listing price from February 2022. While home sellers are asking $399,000 on average, that’s not the price they’re ultimately getting on average. Realtor.com states homes in Charlotte sold, on average, for 1.19% below the asking price in February 2023. READ MORE: 🤍

Miguel explains why landlords & global finance produce luxury housing and withhold housing from the market instead of actually addressing the housing crisis. "The development of advanced speculative financial instruments is rapidly allowing the treatment of homes closer to pure exchange value in the global financial system. A house is just a commodity that can be accumulated and hedged for others in the pursuit of profit. Like many other derivatives or commodities, housing is a speculative instrument and this is its main purpose. Simply put, the housing of people is not its main business." - Miguel Robles-Durán This is a clip from S03 E05 of Cities After...
