Before it became known as ground zero of a deadly coronavirus outbreak, Wuhan was the breakfast capital of China. The city is famous for its morning street stalls selling rice donuts, dumplings, and bean pies. But the most famous dish is hot dry noodles, a hearty bowl of noodles topped with spicy sesame sauce. We met Daxiong, a Wuhan native who runs a noodle shop in New York, to learn how it’s made. Wuhan has a reputation for tasty breakfasts. After eating a feast of street foods, I've proven that this reputation is warranted . I try the highly popular re gan mian or hot dry noodles. I stuff my face with san xiang dou pi or 3 flavor tofu skin. I crunch down on a mian wo. And so much more. When night falls, I head to the night market for more street food including some local specialties. Overall, it was an amazingly delicious day and it made me re-think Chinese breakfasts. -/// ABOUT ME \\\- I live in China and am constantly exploring and traveling the country and other parts of Asia. I made this video back in November 2019 when I visited Wuhan for the first time. I’ve been thinking for a while now about when would I should post it. Actually, I can’t think of a better time than right now. There’s a lot of misinformation going around about what kind of city Wuhan is, with a lot of people who have never even visited the city judging it negatively. Hopefully this video can show people what a wonderful city Wuhan is. The next few months might be hard for a lot of people around the world, but let’s stay compassionate, stay strong, and respect and love each other. 我们一起加油 ! Hope you’re healthy and happy wherever you may be watching in the world. Please share this video with your family and friends - let's spread some love and positivity together! Peace and love xxx Blondie

Reganmian's a dish that's practically synonymous with Wuhan. It's a street food staple and a much beloved dish to grab on the go int the morning. The key to an awesome authentic Wuhan reganmian is the fact that they add a lushui spiced braising liquid that they've been braising beef in. We're attempting to mimic that by making a lushui and adding in some beef bones and scraps for flavor. Huge thank you to Trevor James, a.k.a. the Food Ranger, for being awesome as always and letting us cut in some of his street food footage in with the recipe video. Check out his full video, after the reganmian he eats what might be my favorite breakfast snack in all of China. People in Wuhan have a breakfast rule: Something liquid and something dry. Since the food tends to be very starchy or doughy, the way to get it all down is to pair it with a sweet wine or soup. This food court, named "Happy Station," is located in Wuhan, China. It has been operating for 16 years and hosts more than 300 shops. In addition to offering international cuisines such as Korean food, Japanese Yakitori, and Mexican Tacos, it primarily specializes in local dishes. A standout is the "First Generation Grilled Wing King," a shop that exclusively sells grilled whole chicken wings. This results in long lines of customers year-round, and the shop once set a record of selling 2,000 wings in a single day. Another highlight is "Zeng's Grilled Duck Necks." Their duck necks undergo a unique culinary process—first marinated, then fried, and finally grilled, guaranteeing a robust flavor. Moreover, the food court features specialized shops for sweet soup, braised pig's trotters, shrimp sliders, beef offal, lamb chops, and fish heads.
