Search inside ancient ruins, seeking out the “Secret Treasure of Life” – which sleeps in the sprawling ruins of “LA-MULANA” and is said to be the beginning of all civilization. Unfortunately, priceless artifacts very rarely give themselves up easily. Apart from the plethora of traps lying in wait, there are also monsters on the prowl, protecting the ruins. Head for the innermost depths of the ruins while solving a variety of mysteries, fending off monsters, and disarming traps. Forging ahead will be no simple task – the further into the depths you reach, the more difficult the mysteries become. The guardians of LA-MULANA do not take their job lightly. LA-MULANA on Steam is the PC port version of the acclaimed remake for WiiWare. One of the first NIGORO games, LA-MULANA was originally created back in the creators’ “amateur” days and has been renown worldwide. This game was created based on “that old-time feeling.” The creators wished to play the sort of games that enthralled them back in the day, only with more volume. The operability and difficulty level are certainly not “new school”. However, this game is highly recommended to gamers seeking out that feeling of total immersion that allows you to go full-on head-to-head with a game not found in somewhat lighter terms. NOTICE: Please skip to 1:03:15 if you want to get to the main part of the run. Anything before that point is just introduction + hot spring grinding. NOTE: If you're using this to help with the Vita version, you'll need to defeat the final boss 3 times, as opposed to 2. You'll need to beat it an additional time BEFORE finishing Hell Temple, as you have to get the 'Curry Addict' trophy during the final escape sequence, and you lose the chance to get this trophy once Hell Temple is done. You also need to collect all e-mails, which you should get if you follow this video (The one e-mail I'm missing in this run is easily acquirable in the Vita version) A Platinum Trophy run of La-Mulana 1: Hidden Treasures edition on the Playstation 4. To obtain most of the trophies in one playthrough, you need to do the following: - Beat the game in under 10 hours game time, doing all the tasks below (pausing does not increase the timer) - All collectibles (minus Xelpud e-mails, all the relevant ones have a trophy attached to them) - Beat all major bosses in HARD MODE without using any subweapons (One-finger challenge) - Defeat Hell Temple without getting the Fairy Vest (do not get the Fairy Vest until after beating this area, meaning you can only get it before facing the final boss) - All Characters Show up in the ending (tied to the above tasks) - Activate the Goddess Tower using the hidden route I was hoping to get the 100 hot spring uses out of the way quickly and get to the good part sooner. However, it currently seems that the game resets the hot spring usage counter upon resetting your console/closing the game, so I ended up having to show all 100 hot spring uses anyways. I highly recommend doing this part in a separate save because it will eat up a considerable amount of time. If you follow the route I take and pause if you're not sure where to go, you should be able to get most of the trophies in one playthrough. Even doing the bosses without subweapons should not be too difficult because I get a significant amount of upgrades before fighting them.
We're headed back into the ruins of La-Mulana with this remix of the game's final boss theme: Good Night Mom! I can't express enough how under-appreciated the Lu-Mulana soundtrack is. I was first introduced to it five years ago when I covered Interstice of the Dimension after receiving various requests for it. After checking out more of the soundtrack, I always had in the back of my mind that I'd like to return to it someday. So now, five years later, here's your second La-Mulana GaMetal! If you like Metroidvania style games, give La-Mulana a try if you haven't yet. If you don't like Metroidvanias... you should still give it a chance. It's a great game with an amazing soundtrack and deserves more love! Across the majority of this run, it's very good - the points where there is slop really hurt though. Might constitute my best first effort at this category before I move on to the next thing, or I might want to try to grind out something better to repair the endgame; problem is, the rest of the run would be a hell of a thing to compete against for performance & luck just to fix the few errors that did exist.
